Welcome to the Anmore Garden Club
We
are gardeners from Anmore and Belcarra, both new and experienced, who
have a wide range of gardening interests. Our goals are to improve our knowledge
on all aspects of gardening and to share that knowledge with each
other and the community. Our meetings are social and relaxed.
We offer a wide range of activities: gardening ★ garden-related crafts ★ plant sales and trades ★ tours of private and public gardens and nurseries ★ private plant sales ★ sharing plant knowledge via club email ★ lectures on gardening topics by growers and academics.
For the last few years, we have also hosted the annual Spirit Park Cleanup, an event open to everyone from our community. We gather to dig out weeds and aerate the soil. Many like to attend, since it is an enjoyable social time with free food and beverages. By helping to make the park beautiful, we give back to our community.
We are a very optimistic garden club in an area where deer and the occasional bear wander through our tenderly cared for yards, making a meal of anything they find. The first thing you learn when planting your garden here in Anmore is that NOTHING is deer proof. There may be plants that they ignore year after year but, without fail, they come thorough and gobble it up when you least expect it. Living here in the woods gives us a variety of climate zones within one area. The most common features are shade plants and flowering shrubs such as rhododendrons. Joining the garden club gives you the opportunity to share your successes with other like minded people and learn what tricks others have used to help their garden flourish.
We usually meet on the third Monday of the month at 7:30pm. The meetings will be held in the Multi-purpose room of Anmore Elementary School. Check the schedule for dates.
